Role Overview
We are seeking a highly experienced and skilled Senior MERN Stack Developer with in-depth knowledge of Next.js and expertise in working with large datasets. As a Senior Developer, you will be responsible for developing and maintaining our web applications using the MERN (MongoDB, Express.js, React.js, Node.js) stack and leveraging the power of Next.js for server-side rendering and optimised performance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product managers, designers, and other developers, to understand project requirements and translate them into technical specifications and implementation plans.
- Design and develop scalable, efficient, and maintainable web applications using the MERN stack, with an emphasis on Next.js for server-side rendering.
- Optimise applications for maximum performance, ensuring fast loading times and smooth user experiences, particularly when dealing with large datasets.
- Implement data models and database structures to efficiently handle and process large amounts of data, utilising MongoDB and other relevant technologies.
- Develop RESTful APIs and integrate with external services or third-party APIs to enhance functionality and provide seamless user experiences.
- Write clean, modular, and reusable code following best practices and coding standards, and conduct thorough code reviews to maintain code quality.
- Conduct performance analysis, identify bottlenecks, and optimise applications for scalability and reliability.
- Stay up-to-date with industry trends, new technologies, and emerging best practices, and proactively propose and implement improvements to the development process and architecture.
- Mentor and guide junior developers, sharing your knowledge and expertise to foster a collaborative and learning-oriented environment.
Skills and requirements:
- Extensive experience in full-stack web development using the MERN (MongoDB, Express.js, React.js, Node.js) stack.
- Proficiency in Next.js and a deep understanding of its server-side rendering capabilities and performance optimization techniques.
- Strong expertise in working with and processing large datasets efficiently, utilising appropriate database technologies such as MongoDB.
- Solid understanding of front-end technologies including HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript (ES6+), along with experience in modern front-end frameworks/libraries like React.js.
- Experience with building and consuming RESTful APIs and integrating external services or third-party APIs.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to analyse complex technical challenges, propose effective solutions, and implement them with attention to detail.
- Experience with version control systems, particularly Git, and familiarity with Agile/Scrum development methodologies.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
- Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Familiarity with other front-end frameworks/libraries such as Angular or Vue.js.
- Knowledge of GraphQL and its implementation in MERN stack applications.
- Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud for deployment and scaling of web applications.
- Understanding of DevOps practices and experience with CI/CD pipelines.
